The Leadership Spotlight Shines On: Jo Lashley

1. Personal: Where you were born and raised; current city; family; hobbies; past business highlights....
Born in Somerset, I'm a single mum to 11 year old twins, and have worked in the Horse industry all my life. I rode professionally and taught others, but when Covid hit, I started to search for other ways to supplement my income, which was around the same time I came across the travel business. I've always been entrepreneurial looking for ways to earn money.

2. How have you grown or personally developed since joining PlanNet?
I wasn't particularly confident meeting new people in person, and certainly wasn't confident speaking in front of large groups of people. I'm getting better! Lots of people have commented on how I've grown in confidence, and I feel more confident doing and trying new things. I've learnt that pushing myself out of my comfort zone is how to grow and develop. 

3. What drives you; what motivates you?
Financial independence, and future financial security for my children.

4. Who would you consider a role model and why?
In business both Caroline Hamilton and Lyndsey Middleton (my mentors). I find their passion, drive, and work ethic, to better their and their families' lives hugely inspiring, but also their want to help and support others achieve that too. In everyday life, my mum, she is who I learned my work ethic from.

5. The three words that describe me best are:
Determined, Hardworking, and Consistent. 

6.  If you had some sound advice to give to anyone, what would it be?
Do something every day to move your business forward, and get obsessed with helping others!

7. What does your life look like five years from now?
We would like to move to a four bedroom property with a little land onsite for the horses. Ideally my children will be attending private school for their GCSE years.
