The Leadership Spotlight Shines On: Janelle James

1. Where were you born and raised; current city; family hobbies; past business highlights?
I was born and raised in Washington, DC, and currently live in Atlanta. I’m a wife of 10 years and a proud mom of five boys. My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, and I love traveling often. Before becoming an entrepreneur, I served in the Army as a war veteran, deploying to Iraq at 19 years old. I later transitioned to a career in IT, where I worked my way up to becoming a software engineer and achieved six figures before age 30. I left that path to pursue entrepreneurship in 2015, growing my first business to seven figures. I now own and operating 3 profitable businesses including this one.

2. How have you grown or personally developed since joining PlanNet?
Since joining PlanNet Marketing, I’ve grown tremendously as a leader, a mentor, and a person. The experience has strengthened my passion for helping others, pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone, and allowed me to find purpose in leading and teaching others to create legacies for their families. I’ve become more intentional about building relationships, coaching others to success, and aligning my daily actions with my long-term goals.

3. What drives you; what motivates you?
I’m driven by the opportunity to change lives, to help others create financial freedom, and to show people their potential to achieve more. My past struggles and triumphs fuel my determination to help others overcome their challenges and create better lives for themselves.

4. Who would you consider a role model and why?
I consider my late mother a role model. Losing her at a young age shaped me into the resilient, driven person I am today. Her memory inspires me to lead with love, strength, and perseverance. Professionally, I’m also inspired by leaders who prioritize serving others and creating meaningful impact.

5. The three words that describe me best are:
Purposeful, Resilient, and Visionary.

6. If you had some sound advice to give to anyone, what would it be?
Never let the opinions of others stand in your way. Often, when people are overly focused on you, it’s a sign that they may not be giving enough attention to their own goals. Stay focused on your vision, trust your process, and remember that your success is determined by your dedication, not by the opinions of others.

Additionally, focus on your purpose, believe in your vision, and take consistent action. Surround yourself with people who align with your future, not your past, and don’t be afraid to bet on yourself – your success will inspire others to believe in themselves, too. Someone is waiting on you to become the evidence!

7. What does your life look like five years from now?
Five years from now, I see myself continuing to thrive as a leader and mentor in network marketing, having helped thousands of families create legacy businesses. I envision my family enjoying financial freedom, traveling the world, and living out the generational wealth and success I’ve built for them. Personally, I see myself being more impactful globally – coaching, speaking, and inspiring others to step into their purpose while growing my business empire.
