The Leadership Spotlight Shines On: Carly Westmoreland

1. Where were you born and raised; current city; family hobbies; past business highlights.
I'm a small-town Indiana girl now living in Maryland with my husband, Wes, a retired Army Chief Warrant Officer. I'm a proud mom, Grammy, military wife, and travel lover!

After 22 years in healthcare, I walked away without a backup plan and started my entrepreneurial journey in January 2025. Within nine months, I achieved One-Star Director with PlanNet Marketing, grew an organization of over 200 partners, and earned several company recognitions. The awards are wonderful, but watching others succeed means even more!

2. How have you grown or personally developed since joining PlanNet?
I've learned that working hard and leading others are two very different things! After developing social anxiety during COVID, this business challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, find my voice, and believe in myself again. My biggest lesson? Leadership isn't about creating followers. It's about developing leaders. I've also learned patience, grace, and the importance of trusting God's timing.

3. What drives you; what motivates you?
My faith, my family, and making a difference. Eight years ago, after going through a divorce, I knew what it felt like to lose everything and start over. Those experiences shaped my compassion for others. Financial freedom is important, but watching someone discover their potential is what truly motivates me. I spent 22 years helping people regain independence in healthcare. Today, I help people pursue a different kind of independence. My purpose hasn't changed. Just my platform!

4. Who would you consider a role model and why?
I have several! My mom taught me resilience and strength. My husband, Wes, inspires me daily with his work ethic, determination, and unwavering belief in me. I swear, that man thinks I walk on water! Then there are three incredible women I call my "Michelle Obamas": Director Lindsay Mulhall, Director Stephanie Cloutier, and Coach J.P. Watkins Mukes. Their confidence, poise, and leadership inspire me to think bigger and become better. They don't just talk about leadership. They live it. Together, they've taught me something invaluable: Never forget where you came from, never stop growing, and always reach back to help someone else rise.

5. The three words that describe me best are:
Resilient. Driven. Compassionate. Resilient because life has knocked me down, but I've never stayed down. Driven because when I commit to something, I go all in. Compassionate because success means nothing if you forget where you came from or stop caring about others.

6. If you had some sound advice to give to anyone what would‌ it be?
STOP waiting for the perfect time! You'll never have all the money, time, or answers. Sometimes you have to take the chance and figure it out along the way. Stop comparing yourself to others, letting fear make decisions, and quitting when things get hard. The life you're praying for may require becoming someone you've never been before. Trust God, do the work, and don't give up on yourself!

7.  What does your life look like five years from now?
I can picture it perfectly! Wes and I sitting in rocking chairs on the porch of our dream home overlooking the water, enjoying our morning tea and coffee, deciding where we'll travel next. More memories with our children and grandchildren, more travel, and more opportunities to give back. Professionally, I envision an organization filled with strong, independent leaders changing lives. I don't just want to build wealth. I want to build memories, opportunities, and a meaningful legacy. When it's all said and done, I don't want people remembering my rank or income. I want them remembering that I showed up, I cared, and I helped them believe in themselves.
