The Leadership Spotlight Shines On: Amy Allen

1. Where were you born and raised; current city; family hobbies; past business highlights.
I was born in California, but raised in Oklahoma.  I was blessed to live in Europe for many years with my Air Force husband, and now we’ve settled back in my hometown of Owasso, Oklahoma.

I’m a bonus mom to one beautiful young woman, and an adoptive mom to our two dogs and two cats! My husband and I have been married for 23 years and we love to travel together every chance we get, whether that’s in our travel trailer, or on the beach in Jamaica at a five-star resort.

I’m proud to be a One-Star Director, 20/20, and to have earned the Fireball award the past two years at convention. I’m working on making that THREE Fireball awards, and walking into convention as a Two-Star Director, bringing the first One-Star Director from my team with me.

2. How have you grown or personally developed since joining PlanNet?
The personal development aspect of PlanNet has been incredible! The opportunities we have available to us have completely changed my life, and changed my perspective on what it means to share this opportunity, and what it means to be a leader. If you’d have asked me 2 years ago if I’d ever lead a team, I’d have said no. Now, I’m leading a team of over 180, and I’m so proud to continue to help them every day!

3. What drives you; what motivates you?
My drive comes from my desire for my husband and I to have freedom.  For 20 years, the Air Force determined where Chris and I lived, what our calendar looked like, and when we could take a vacation. For 30 years, school districts have been planning my calendar and my hours each day. We want to live the next part of our lives making our own schedules and deciding where we’ll be when we work them.

4. Who would you consider a role model and why?
One of my role models is Director Watkins-Mukes. Her story, her mindset, and her leadership inspire me continually. Seeing the impact she has made, and continues to make, on so many families and lives fires me up to impact as many people with this opportunity as I can, too.

5. The three words that describe me best are:
Encouraging, positive, and growing.

6. If you had some sound advice to give to anyone what would‌ it be?
The advice I would give today is to keep your mind open to the opportunities around you, even the ones that first look like adversity. Flip your mindset and see adversity through the lens of opportunity and a place you can grow.

7. What does your life look like five years from now?
Five years from now I’ll be a Four-Star Director, retired from teaching, and enjoying financial and time freedom with my husband. We’ll both be retired, vacationing often, and working our businesses on our own schedules!
