"Fun facts about me: In high school I won an essay contest about my interest in the hospitality & tourism industry, resulting in an all-expenses paid trip for my mother and I to New York. Many people believe the military is what captivated my interest in travel, but it was this trip. I experienced my first flight and travel outside of the Midwest. From then on, I knew there was a world much bigger than I had known and I set my mind to go and explore. Shortly thereafter, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy."
